Serica Initiative’s CEO Dinner series started off the new year on Wednesday, January 25, 2025, featuring Dr. David Ho, the eminent researcher, physician, and virologist. Named Time Magazine’s “Man of the Year” in 1996 in recognition of his development of life-saving HIV treatments, Dr. Ho shared his insights with Serica regarding the current escalation of the H5N1 avian influenza, or “bird flu,” which has not yet had widespread transmission to humans. Scientists, he said, are nevertheless already working on vaccines. What everyone can do, he said, is equip ourselves with science-based information and share those facts with those around us to help combat misinformation.
