On October 30th, Serica Initiative’s CEO Dinner series welcomed Robert Xiao. Dr. Robert H. Xiao is the Chief Executive Officer of Perfect World Co., Ltd., a prominent Chinese mass media company specializing in video games and film production. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Physics from Tsinghua University in 1989, followed by a Master's and Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1991 and 1995, respectively. Dr. Xiao joined Perfect World in 2008, initially serving as Senior Vice-President overseeing human resources and administration. He later advanced to roles including Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chief Executive Officer, before being appointed as CEO in March 2013.

Dr. Xiao explored the transformative impact of emerging technologies, such as 5G, on the digital entertainment industry. He has previously discussed how 5G technology is poised to revolutionize content consumption patterns, enabling more immersive and interactive experiences for users. Dr. Xiao also delved into the integration of scientific advancements and cultural elements in creating innovative entertainment products, reflecting on Perfect World's approach to blending technology with cultural narratives. Additionally, he addressed the role of creative thinking in driving the future of digital entertainment, emphasizing its importance in fostering innovation and meeting evolving consumer demands.
